MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball squad wrapped up their regular season Wednesday evening. They played host to the Alverno Inferno at the Edgedome for a Northern Collegiate Athletic Conference (NACC) tilt. The Eagles (19-9, 11-2 NACC) featured many of their younger players on the evening as they earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-19) victory against the Inferno (4-20, 0-13).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College jumped out to a 14-4 lead and left Alverno behind as they won 25-11 in the first round.
- A 7-1 rally early gave the Eagles a 7-4 advantage that turned into a 17-9 lead. The Inferno chipped away at the lead until flaring to life late, a 7-0 burst putting them in a 23-23 dead heat. Edgewood College doused Alverno's hopes with the last two points in the set.
- The Inferno continued to rage to start set three, an 8-1 opening barrage featuring four aces putting the Eagles behind. The young Edgewood College lineup replied with a 7-2 answer, capped by a pair of aces from
Delaney Horkan. A 7-2 follow-up from the Eagles doused the Inferno and put them back in the lead at 16-15, before Edgewood College put out Alverno with a 9-3 run.
- Edgewood College featured almost their entire lineup in the victory as they outhit the Inferno .208 to .065. They also recorded 15 service aces.
- Five separate Eagles recorded two or more aces, with
Abigail Hoffmann hitting three for the team lead.
- Four Edgewood College hitters had five or more kills, with
Hannah Siebert and
Ashley Bruehlman leading with eight and six kills respectively. Siebert hit .615 on 13 total attacks.

Kate Gunderson and
Taylor Salmon each had 12 assists, while Gunderson led the squad with eight digs.
- Alex McMath had seven kills, four aces, and 11 assists to lead Alverno in all three categories, while Breanna Flannery had 12 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles' 15 aces as a squad tied for seventh-most in an single match all time.
- Edgewood College finished the regular season on a six-match winning streak and have won 13 of 15.
- The Eagles remained undefeated against the Inferno, now 26-0 since 2001.

Edgewood College will host the Benedictine Eagles in a first-round NACC Tournament matchup at the Edgedome. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Edgewood College won the regular season matchup 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22) at the Edgedome back on September 30.
