DECORAH, Iowa – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team moved its record to 3-0 on the young season with a pair of wins at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic on Friday. The Eagles won both matches via 3-1 scores, beginning with a victory over Saint Mary's (Minnesota), before ending the day with a win against Carleton College.
EAGLES 3, SAINT MARY'S 1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-19)
- The Eagles dropped the first set before responding with three-straight set wins to close out the Cardinals in the opener. Edgewood College appeared to get strong as the match went along and hit a solid .271 over the four-set victory.

Corrin Harrington was the star of the first match, registering a career-best10 kills on just 13 attempts. She hit a ridiculous .769 for the match.
Abbey Maier added 10 kills in the win for the Eagles.
- The Edgewood College two-setter system has worked wonders early in the season and
Taylor Salmon and
Abigail Hoffmann were at it again with a combined 37 assists. Salmon delivered 19, while Hoffman added 17 helpers.

Lea Bunch led a strong defensive effort for the Eagles with 21 digs in the opener on Friday. Edgewood College added five blocks as a team and they held the Cardinals to a .152 hitting percentage as a team.
EAGLES 3, CARLETON 1 (25-18, 26-24, 21-25, 25-22)
- The Eagles got off to a strong start by winning the first two sets in the nightcap, including holding on for a 26-24 win in the second set. Edgewood College trailed 24-23 in the second set, before scoring three-straight points to win it.
Mackenzie Doherty had two of her match-high 20 kills in the three-point rally, while
Amanda Carlson added an ace.
- After Carleton forced a fourth set, the Eagles got back on track with a 25-22 win to close out the 2-0 day. Doherty was terrific with 20 kills and a .341 attack percentage. The Eagles hit .230 as a team with Carlson adding six kills and a .455 hitting night.
- Salmon delivered 27 assists, a new career high for the junior setter. Hoffmann also had a career high in her third career match, dishing out 21 helpers for Edgewood College.
- Bunch once again led the way defensively with 12 digs. The Eagles also produced 13 service aces in the match – four from Carlson, three from Hoffmann, and two each from Bunch and
Hannah Siebert.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles are 3-0 for the first time since the 2008 season. All three of 2008 wins in the 3-0 start were at home, while all three wins this season have come in the state of Iowa.

- The Eagles will play two more at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic tomorrow, beginning with a 10 a.m. match against Luther College. Edgewood College will then battle UW-River Falls at noon.
