PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – After two sets on Tuesday night, it looked as if the Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team was on its way to a quick win over UW-Platteville. The Eagles took the first two sets in Tuesday's non-conference match but ended up needing all five sets to take care of the Pioneers in a 3-2 non-conference win at Williams Fieldhouse.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (11-4) opened the night with a dominant 25-13 win in the first set before going up 2-0 with a 25-22 victory in the second set. UW-Platteville would force it to a fifth set with 25-21, 25-22 wins in the third and fourth, respectively.
- The Pioneers looked like they might pull off the comeback as they led 12-10 in the final set. That's when the Eagles scored three-straight points, the last of those a service ace from
Lea Bunch, to pull ahead 13-12. After the Pioneers tied the final set at 13, Edgewood College scored the final two points for the win. The first came via a block from
Corrin Harrington and
Abigail Hoffmann, while the match was clinched with a
Mackenzie Doherty kill.
- Hoffmann was up to her usual tricks on Tuesday night, providing offense as both a hitter and a setter. She led the Eagles with 15 kills, hitting .333 for the match. She also delivered 18 assists. Defensively, Hoffmann added six digs and three block assists, the last of those a key one with Harrington for the 14-13 lead in the fifth set.

Taylor Salmon posted another double-double for the Eagles, her sixth-straight. Salmon led the team with 24 assists and added 13 digs. Bunch tied for a match-high 18 digs for Edgewood College.
- The Eagles hit .184 for the night, which started with a .364 effort in the opening set. UW-Platteville had a negative hitting percentage in the opening set before ending the night at .126.
- Edgewood College finished with six blocks as a team with Harrington, Hoffmann and
Abbey Falk each providing three block assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Coming into Tuesday's match the Eagles had four total losses, all four against WIAC schools. Edgewood College snapped that streak in one of their final non-conference matches of the regular season. The Eagles next 11 matches will come against NACC opponents.
THE OPPOSITION
- Olivia Kudronowicz led UW-Platteville with 13 killls and 18 digs. Kaite Asche added 13 kills of her own for the Pioneers.

- The Eagles will begin that 11-straight NACC matches stretch with a home contest against MSOE on Friday night. Action from the Todd Wehr Edgedome is set to begin at 7 p.m.
