MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team posted its third-straight NACC win to start league play, taking care of MSOE, 3-1, inside the Todd Wehr Edgedome on Friday night. Three Eagles had double-doubles in the four-set victory over the Raiders.
EAGLES 3, RAIDERS 1 (26-24, 25-23, 14-25, 25-18)
- The Eagles (12-4, 3-0 NACC) were led by three players –
Mackenzie Doherty,
Abigail Hoffmann, and
Taylor Salmon – who posted double-doubles on Friday evening. For Salmon it was her seventh-straight as she led the team with 23 assists, while adding 12 digs.
- The first two sets went in favor of the Eagles, but they certainly had to work for those two wins. Edgewood College won each set by two points and the two sets featured 26 ties and 11 lead changes. In the first set, the Eagles closed it out with two-straight points after being tied at 24-24, the first of those on a kill by
Abbey Falk. Falk led Edgewood College with 13 kills on Friday, hitting .241 for the match.
- In the second battle to 25, Edgewood College used a 4-0 run after trailing 22-20 to help put away MSOE.
Corrin Harrington (two kills, five blocks) put the set away with a kill for the Eagles.
- MSOE (11-7, 0-2 NACC) made sure there would be no sweep as the Raiders dominated the third set. MSOE gained a 25-14 win in the set, hitting .414. For the night the Raiders (.195) had a better hitting percentage than the Eagles (.145) but that wasn't enough to make a difference on the scoreboard.
- Edgewood College had its best set in the fourth, hitting .225 and closing out the night with a 25-18 win.
- Harrington's five block assists led the way defensively for the Eagles, who totaled seven blocks as a team on Friday. Edgewood College also had 67 digs, 15 from
Lea Bunch in addition to Doherty's 13 and Salmon's 12. Doherty added 10 kills for her double-double, while Hoffmann tallied 18 assists and 11 kills, hitting .229 for the evening.
THE OPPOSITON
- MSOE received 33 assists from Amanda Yackley, who posted a double-double of her own with 11 digs. Emma Braun led the Radiers with 11 kills and Emily Stratton added 10.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 3-0 NACC start is the first for the Eagles since the 2017 season. They finished 2017 with an 8-3 league record.

- Edgewood College will visit Benedictine University for a battle of Eagles tomorrow afternoon in Lisle, Illinois. The NACC match is set for a 1 p.m. start.
