STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team split a pair of matches at the UW-Stevens Point Pointers Invitational on Friday. The Eagles began the day with a five-set win over the University of Minnesota Morris before falling against host UW-Stevens Point in the nightcap, 3-1.
EAGLES 3, MINNESOTA MORRIS 2 (25-17, 17-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-12)
- An outstanding match between the Eagles (6-2) and Cougars (1-6) started the day as it went down to the fifth set. In the fifth set, Minnesota Morris built a 5-0 lead before the Eagles rallied with six of the next seven points to tie the match at 6-6.
Amanda Carlson posted three kills from that point on to help the Eagles close out Minnesota Morris in the opener.
- The Eagles hit .175 in the first match, but did connect over .200 in each of their three set wins.
Mackenzie Doherty led the way offensively with 17 kills (.268), while
Abbey Falk (.421) and Carlson (.118) each totaled 11 kills in the victory.

Taylor Salmon provided a double-double for Edgewood College, dishing out 25 assists and adding 16 digs.
Abigail Hoffmann added 20 assists, while
Lea Bunch once again led the way defensively with 24 digs.
- After the two teams traded 25-17 wins in the first two sets, the remainder of the match was back-and-forth in each and every set. Edgewood College escaped with a 26-24 third set win before Minnesota Morris forced the fifth set with a 25-23 victory. Overall, the score was tied 30 times throughout the entire match, including 26 times from the third set on. There were also 13 lead changes, 11 of those coming from the third set on.
UWSP 3, EAGLES 1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-14, 25-19)
- The host Pointers were at an advantage as the match was their only one of the day, while the Eagles had to gut out the five-set victory just a couple hours earlier. That showed early as the Pointers hit .241 compared to the Eagles .091 in the opening set.
- Edgewood College secured a 26-24 win in the second set but then appeared to run out of gas as the Pointers closed the match over the next two.
- Hoffmann secured a double-double in the second match, leading the team with 19 assists, while adding 11 digs. Bunch tallied 20 digs and
Lauren Glissendorf added 10.
Corrin Harrington had a solid match at the net, providing three block assists.
- Doherty and Falk led the offensive effort with nine and eight kills, respectively.

- Edgewood College will play two matches at UW-Oshkosh tomorrow. It will be a quick turnaround as the Eagles take on Lake Forest at 9:30 a.m. before battling host UW-Oshkosh at 11:30 a.m.
