Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Edgewood College Men's Tennis team went on the road and battled Cornell College for a Sunday morning non-conference match. The Eagles started the day with two doubles wins, but ultimately fell 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The day started with doubles contests and Edgewood College (0-6) posted wins in two of those three matches. The No. 3 freshmen duo of
Conner Dugan and
Bradley Erickson rolled to an 8-0 win to highlight the doubles play.
- The Eagles also got a No. 2 singles win by the duo of
Caden Nelson and
Tommy Ebben. Those two outlasted the Rams No. 2 team, 8-6.
- In singles play, Cornell rallied back with wins in the No. 1 through 4 positions, securing the 5-4 win.
- Ebben and Dugan moved to 2-0 on the day with wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Ebben went to a third-set tiebreak, gaining a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 win in his No. 4 singles match. Dugan moved his singles record to 5-1 this season with another No. 6 victory. He won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

- The Eagles will host two non-conference matches this coming weekend, beginning with a Friday night battle against St. Norbert College. The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. at Hitters Sportsplex in Middleton.
