MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team took on two difficult in-region opponents Saturday in the first home triangular of the 2019 season. The Eagles would fall in both matches, dropping the opener against Wheaton College, 3-1, before being swept by UW-Oshkosh.
WHEATON 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- The Eagles won the third set, but dropped the opening two and final sets in the setback against the Thunder. The third set went 25-20 in favor of Edgewood College, with Wheaton winning the others 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19.

Mackenzie Doherty had a strong match, posting a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. She hit .242 for the match.

Ella Carpenter helped set up the Eagles hitters with 12 assists against the Thunder.
Sarah Uczen and
Taylor Salmon joined Doherty with double-digit digs, tallying 12 and 11.
- Audrey Gerze led Wheaton with 10 kills, while Alecia Funk dished out 12 assists. Cassie Swiderek added 18 digs for the Thunder.
UW-OSHKOSH 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- The Eagles were swept by the Titans for the second time this season, although Edgewood College battled closely in sets one and three. UW-Oshkosh picked up the win with set wins of 25-23, 25-12, and 28-26.
- Edgewood College tallied seven aces in the second match, four coming from
Amanda Carlson in the first set.

Abbey Maier had nine kills and hit a robust .438 against the Titans with
Taylor Salmon dishing out 12 assists. Uczen added 16 digs for the Eagles.
- No player reached double-digit kills for either side in the last match of the day. The Titans received 12 assists each from Rebecca Doughty and Emma Kiekhofer. Doughty recorded a double-double adding 10 digs, while Rachel Gardner led all players with 17.
