MADISON, Wis. – In the home and NACC opener, the Edgewood College had their service game working. The Eagles tallied 19 service aces, tying a program record in the process, in an easy 3-0 win over Alverno College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (2-8, 1-0 NACC) controlled the match throughout, winning the sets 25-16, 25-13, 25-14. It began with the 25-16 first set win where the Eagles had five aces, two from sophomore
Seghan Northey.
Amanda Carlson added three kills in the opening set.
- Seven more service aces came in set two with three of those coming from Northey. Northey added two kills in the second set, as did
Mackenzie Doherty.
- The third set was the
Taylor Salmon show as the freshmen served up the first 13 points for the Eagles with five aces through her run.
Kennedy Crain added two aces in the final set to help Edgewood College tie the school record.
- The Eagles received a balanced performance in the attack game on Wednesday with four players tallying four or more kills.
Abbey Maier played well in her first collegiate home match, registering six kills with Northey, Carlson, and Doherty adding four. Maier hit .556 for the match and Northey had a .429 attack percentage.
- Salmon led the Eagles with 11 assists in addition to her five aces, which tied Northey for the team-high.
Amanda Meister paced the team with eight digs.

- The Eagles will remain at home for their first home triangular of the season Saturday. Edgewood College will host Wheaton College (Illinois) at 12 p.m. and UW-Oshkosh at 4 p.m. Wheaton and UW-Oshkosh will face off at 2 p.m.
