DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team finished out a busy weekend at the Loras College Triangular Saturday. In the first match, the Eagles dropped a 3-0 decision against No. 17-ranked Augsburg University. The Eagles showed improvement in the second match of the day, dropping a close contest 3-2 against host Loras College.
NO. 17 AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- Edgewood College (1-8) faced their second ranked opponent of the season in No. 17 Augsburg University (10-2). The Auggies made quick work of the Eagles with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-19, 25-15).
- The Eagles best work came in the second set, as they finished with 11 kills.
- Mackenzie Doherty paced the Eagles with eight kills. Brittany Sager totaled 10 assists, while Amanda Meister added six digs. Sager collected a pair of digs for the Eagles.
LORAS COLLEGE 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2
- In another close match, the Eagles barely missed out on defeating Loras College, ultimately falling in five sets. Edgewood College won the first (25-14) and third sets (25-13) as Loras won sets two (25-17), four (25-15), and the tiebreaking fifth set (15-10).
- Doherty recorded her second double-double of the season, registering 12 kills and 12 digs. Sager finished in the double-digits in assists, with 12, while also recording four aces for the Eagles.
- Meister once again led Edgewood College in digs, with 16, as Sarah Uczen also finished double-digit digs (13). Amanda Carlson led the blocking game for the Eagles with 3 blocks.
