COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – It was a great finish to a season-opening trip to Colorado for the Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team. The Eagles won their final match of the tournament, a 3-2 five-set victory over Millsaps College. Edgewood College started the day with a 3-0 setback against the seventh-ranked team in the nation, host Colorado College.
EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3, MILLSAPS COLLEGE 2
- After dropping the first set, 17-25, the Eagles picked up wins in the next two sets, 25-21, 25-22. Millsaps would force a fifth and final set with a 25-19 win in the fourth before the Eagles gained the victory with a 15-12 final set win.
- The Eagles controlled the fifth and final set and got off to a great start thanks to early kills from
Megan Schwartz and
Kennedy Crain. Both players would finish with two kills in the final set, while
Mackenzie Doherty totaled three kills in the fifth set. Doherty, who led all players with 15 kills in the match, was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
- Doherty hit .250 for the match, while freshman
Abbey Maier connected at a .286 rate for her attacks. Both Maier and
Seghan Northey ended the match with six kills.
Brittany Sager dished out 24 assists in the win, while
Ella Carpenter added 14 assists.

Sarah Uczen had a solid match for the Eagles with 17 digs,. Edgewood College also totaled six service aces in the win with Sager and Northey each tallying two.
NO. 7 COLORADO COLLEGE 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- The Eagles faced a difficult test in the opener in No. 7 Colorado College. The Tigers proved to be worth their ranking with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-22, 25-11).
- The second set was the best for the Eagles as they battled Colorado College to the end. Edgewood College hit .219 in the second set.
- Doherty and Maier paced the Eagles with five kills. Sager totaled 10 assists, while Uczen added 12 digs. Carpenter collected a pair of aces for Edgewood College. With her 12 digs in the opening match, Uczen became the 15th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs.
ALL-TOURNAMENT
- Doherty was named to the All-Tournament Team for her strong showing over the first four matches of the season. She totaled 38 kills over the four matches.

- The Eagles will visit Ripon College for a non-conference match Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
