INDIANAPOLIS- The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team has found out its first round opponent for the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. The Eagles will face Carleton College Friday in an opening round match hosted by UW-Whitewater, the NCAA announced Monday morning. The Eagles and Carleton will play at 1 p.m. Friday.
Edgewood College clinched its first NCAA Tournament berth since the 2014-15 season after winning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Sunday. The Eagles, who posted a 10-0 record during the regular season in NACC play, defeated MSOE in the NACC Tournament semifinals before taking down Concordia Wisconsin in the finals to clinch the NCAA Tournament spot.
Carleton College reached the tournament as the automatic qualifier from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Knights own an 18-2 overall record and are the fifth ranked team in the central region, according to the latest regional rankings via the NCAA.
Edgewood College has never faced Carleton College in Women's Tennis. The Eagles will be making their seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the most recent in 2014-15.
