Box Score 2 MOLINE, Ill. – The Edgewood College Men's Tennis team opened up the 2019 portion of its schedule with a pair of non-conference matches Saturday at Quad City Tennis Club. The Eagles faced a couple of strong opponents in Calvin and Augustana, falling in both matches 9-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opener against Calvin, Edgewood College had a couple of close calls in singles play, including a three-set thriller at the No. 3 position.
Jackson Venske won the opening set of his match 6-4, before falling 6-4 in the second set. Venske would drop the tiebreaker, 10-7.
- At the No. 1 singles position,
Marius Dornhagen Schradermeier fell in a tightly contested matchup, 7-5, 6-3. He also partnered with
Sabastion Seeger at No. 1 doubles as the duo was edged, 8-6.
- In the nightcap against Augustana, Dornhagen Schradermeier provided the closest match, falling by a 6-3, 7-5 score. Both the No. 1 (Dornhagen Schradermeir/Seeger) and No. 2 (Venske/
Tommy Ebben) fell by scores of 8-5.
- In both matches, the Eagles opponents won by default at No. 5 and 6 singles, as well as No. 3 doubles.

- The Eagles will face Carthage (9 a.m.) and the University of Dubuque (Noon) in a pair of non-league matches Friday in Kenosha.
