Eagles come back for key NACC win over Stars

MADISON, Wis. – Facing a 2-1 deficit after three sets, the Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team came soaring back with wins in sets four and five for a thrilling, and important, NACC win over Dominican University Friday night. The Eagles (5-12, 3-1 NACC) also won the opening set in the NACC victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The fifth set was all Eagles, who jumped out to a 7-3 lead before closing out the 15-11 set win. Senior Amanda Meister had two key kills in the final set, while Abbey Maier, who posted a career-best 19 kills, recorded her 19th with an exclamation point for the final point of the night.

- Maier was outstanding from the get go with 15 kills over the first three sets before ending the night with 19. She hit .441 for the match, making just four attack errors throughout the night.

- If Maier was the Eagles offensive MVP Friday, Sarah Uczen surely was the defensive MVP. She recorded 33 digs during the match, consistently frustrating the Stars hitters. The Eagles also had 10 blocks in the match, Bridget Daniels finishing with seven block assists.

- Joining Maier with double-digit kills was Mackenzie Doherty with 13. Brittany Sager had a strong match setting up the Eagles hitters, finishing with 26 assists, while Taylor Salmon added 11.

- The Eagles opened the match with a 25-23 win in the opening set, despite trailing 8-1 out of the gates in the first set. Dominican would win the next two (17-25, 21-25) before Edgewood College forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 33 digs for Uczen was a season-best and one of her career high. She had 34 digs in a match against Nebraska Wesleyan her freshman season.
