MADISON, Wis. – Playing at home for the final time in 2019, the Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team wanted to put forth a strong showing. The Eagles did just that with a 3-0 win over Marian University Wednesday night in the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The only real trouble the Eagles (10-20, 7-5 NACC) was in the opening set. After building a 19-11 lead, Edgewood College let Marian back in it to a 23-23 tie. The Eagles would close out the set with a kill from
Mackenzie Doherty and an attack error from the Sabres to win the opener, 25-23.
- From that point on it was all Edgewood College, winning the next two sets 25-15 and 25-10. Doherty put on a clinic in the third set, registering nine of her match-high 17 kills. She hit .424 for the match to lead the Eagles, who hit .302 as a team, the second-best effort of the season.
-
Brittany Sager and
Taylor Salmon did a great job setting up the Edgewood College attackers all night, combining for 36 assists, 23 from Sager and 13 from Salmon.
Abbey Maier added nine kills (.300) for the Eagles, while
Amanda Carlson pitched in with five.
-
Sarah Uczen and
Amanda Meister led the defensive effort with 14 and 13 digs, respectively. The Eagles also had four blocks on the night, including a solo block from Doherty.
