Eagles sweep Central, fall to Muskies on Senior Day

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team split a pair of matches at their final home triangular of the season, Saturday. The Eagles earned a non-conference sweep of Central College on senior day, after falling to Lakeland University in the opening match. The careers of Amanda Meister and Megan Schwartz were celebrated by the Eagles prior to the opening match against Lakeland.

LAKELAND UNIVERSITY 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- Edgewood College (9-16, 6-3 NACC) struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first match of the day against conference opponent Lakeland University (13-13, 7-1 NACC). The Muskies picked up set wins of 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 in the NACC battle.

- The difference in the contest came down to the Eagles offensive struggles, as the Muskies held the Eagles at a .069 hitting percentage.

- Brittany Sager dished out 20 assists in the match, setting up the Eagles hitters who were led by Mackenzie Doherty with 10 kills. Doherty also finished with 14 digs, good for a double-double. Abbey Maier also notched eight kills in the contest.

- Sarah Uczen recorded 16 digs and Meister collected 11 digs.

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3, CENTRAL COLLEGE 0
- The Eagles ended the day with a non-conference sweep over the Dutch. The third set was the closest, as Edgewood College edged Central College (15-8) 25-23 to earn the sweep. The Eagles dominated the first set 25-17 and showed more of the same offensive power in the 25-21 second set win.

- The Edgewood College offense was propelled by Doherty who managed 13 kills, good for a .333 hitting percentage in the match. Also notably, Seghan Northey went perfect on kills with four and making zero errors for a match percentage of .444.

- Sager did a good job setting up the Eagles hitters with 17 assists.

- Uczen collected 11 digs for the Eagles, and added three service aces. Senior Meister was a force to be reckoned with, managing five service aces, four of which came in the second set where the Eagles totaled seven service aces as a team.

- The Eagles will take on University of Dubuque in a non-conference match on Tuesday. Action is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
