MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Facing a 2-0 deficit after two sets, the Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team perfectly manufactured a comeback with three straight set wins for a thrilling NACC win over MSOE Friday night. The Eagles improve to 5-2 in conference play with only five NACC matches remaining in the regular season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (7-14, 5-2 NACC) dominated the fifth set, going on a 6-0 run to take a definitive 9-5 lead. The 15-10 set win saw five key kills from Mackenzie Doherty and a .500 hitting percentage from the Eagles.
- Doherty led the Eagles offense through the back and forth five set win, posting an 18 kill and 12 dig double-double. Doherty's 18 kills tie her career best.
- Sarah Uczen headlined the Eagles defensive effort, recording 22 digs, constantly keeping the Eagles in the match. The Eagles also had four team blocks in the match, Amanda Carlson finishing with three block assists and Abbey Maier adding two.
- Joining Doherty with double-digit kills was Maier and Carlson with 10. Brittany Sager had another strong match, finishing with 36 assists, two short of her career-best recorded against Wisconsin Lutheran earlier in the week.
- Despite dropping the first two sets of the match to the Raiders (7-14, 2-4 NACC), the Eagles managed to win the next two (26-24, 25-23) forcing the winning fifth set.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Both Doherty and Carlson tied their career-high marks, with 18 kills and 10 kills respectively. Doherty set her career-best mark against Saint Mary's University during her sophomore season. Carlson matched her career-high set against UW-Platteville on September 4th.
