MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team played a home game inside the Todd Wehr Edgedome for the first time since December 22 on Saturday when they welcomed Illinois Tech. The Eagles have improved over that time and it certainly showed Saturday with a convincing 75-53 win, the fourth straight victory for Edgewood College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams took a while to get going offensively with the score 16-15 in favor of the Eagles with 8:06 left in the opening half. That is when the Scarlet Hawks made their only significant run of the game, a 10-4 stretch over the next 4:56 to make the score 25-20.
- From that point on it was all Eagles, which included a 13-2 run to close the half.
Jake Negus, who led the team with 12 points at the break, made a 3-point shot as time expired to give the Eagles a six-point halftime advantage.
- Edgewood College (7-10, 7-5 NACC) continued its strong play in the second half, outscoring Illinois Tech 42-26 over the final 20 minutes.
Emil Radisevic finished the contest with 18 points, connecting on a career-best four 3-point makes out of six attempts. In fact, Radisevic had just four career 3-pointers in his career entering the season, he now has 11 in 2018-19. He also pulled down six rebounds, as did senior guard
Sy Staver.
- The Eagles had another efficient game, shooting 45.5 percent (25-for-55) from the floor and 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from deep. Edgewood College also made 18-of-21 at the line, continuing a strong run from the charity stripe that stretches over the last month of games.
- Negus and
Ben Seefeld each scored 14 points, all of Seefeld's points coming in the second half. Freshman
Avery Lyons added 10 points off the bench.
- The Eagles finished the game with 15 assists, three each from Negus and Lyons. They also committed just nine turnovers, marking the fourth time this season Edgewood College has finished with single-digit turnovers. The Scarlet Hawks committed 13 turnovers.
THE OPPOSITION
- Max Hisitake tallied 17 points and seven rebounds to pace Illinois Tech. Otis Reale added 11 points, while Jake Digiorgio led all players with eight rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This marks the second-straight season the Eagles have posted a four-game winning streak. Last year, Edgewood College won four straight from February 10 through February 20, the last of those a NACC Tournament win at MSOE.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will put their winning streak on the line Wednesday night in a NACC home contest against Concordia Chicago. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
