MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team fell victim to a second-half surge by MSOE, resulting in the Eagles four-game winning streak being snapped Saturday at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Raiders outscored Edgewood College 40-21 in the second half which resulted in a 84-62 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was back-and-forth and ended up with MSOE on top 44-41. The Raiders shot a blistering 61.5 percent (16-for-26) in the first 20 minutes, while Edgewood College countered at 42.9 (15-for-35) percent.
Ben Seefeld had 12 points at the break for the Eagles.
- The Raiders (17-2, 12-2 NACC) started the second half on a 9-2 run, extending their lead to 10 at 53-43. The Eagles (7-11, 7-6 NACC) responded, scoring eight of the next 10 points to cut the deficit to four (55-51). Edgewood College made six-straight free throws during the stretch, four from
Jake Negus, who finished with a team-best 19 points.
- From that point on it was all MSOE, beginning with an 11-0 run to push the lead to 15. The Eagles offense went cold in the second half as they made just 5-of-26 (19.2 percent) from the floor and 2-of-10 from deep. The Raiders made 15-of-29 (51.7 percent) after the break.
- MSOE won the battle of the boards Saturday, outrebounding Edgewood College 43-27.
- Seefeld and
Emil Radisevic joined Negus in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Radisevic also led the Eagles with six rebounds.
THE OPPOSITION
- Matthew Kirmse finished with a game-high 26 points for the Raiders, making 9-of-12 from the floor. Travis Ballard added 16 while Jason Palesse dished out 10 assists while finishing the game with zero turnovers.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will look to rebound Tuesday when they welcome Dominican to the Edgedome for a NACC showdown. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
