Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Eagles rout Stars for third-straight win

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team won its third-straight game, all of those wins on the road, after a dominant 89-49 victory over Dominican University Tuesday night. The Eagles built a 30-point halftime lead and cruised to the 40-point victory, easily the largest win of the season for Edgewood College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (6-10, 6-5 NACC) was firing on all cylinders in the opening half, shooting 76.9 percent (20-for-26) in the first 20 minutes of play. Ben Seefeld scored 17 of his career-high 25 points in the opening half, shooting 8-of-10 before the break. Avery Lyons, who added a career-high 18, scored 12 in the opening half, as did reigning NACC Student-Athlete of the Week Jake Negus.

- While the Eagles missed just six times from the floor in the opening half, they held the Stars to just eight makes. Dominican couldn't get anything going, shooting 27.6 percent (8-for-29) from the floor and a measly 7.1 percent (1-for-14) from 3-point range. The Eagles had just four 3-point attempts in the first 20 minutes of play, but connected on three of those.

- Edgewood College and Dominican were in a tight battle for the first 10 minutes of the game, with the Eagles holding a 16-15 lead with 10:04 to go in the first half. That is when the Eagles pulled away with a 34-5 run to close the half.

- The Eagles would continue to control the game in the second half, coasting to the 40-point win. They did cool off a bit in the second half, but still finished the contest shooting 55.4 percent (31-for-56) from the floor. Seefeld led the way with an efficient 12-for-14 performance. Lyons was 6-of-7 from the field and made both shots from 3-point range.

- Edgewood College controlled the boards as well, finishing with a 49-26 advantage in rebounds. Emil Radisevic led all players with 11 rebounds, while Seefeld, Lyons, Sy Staver, and Ryan Buss all added five. Radisevic also led all players with six assists, finishing with more than the entire Stars team (5). Edgewood College tallied 16 assists as a team.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Tuesday's win marked just the 14th time in program history in which the Eagles have won by at least 40 points. You'd have to go back to the 1994-95 season for the last occurrence when Edgewood College defeated MSOE, 134-87, on February 25, 1995 for the last such occurrence.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will play at home for the first time in nearly a month Saturday when they welcome Illinois Tech to the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The game will be the second part of a women's/men's doubleheader and is set to start at 4:15 p.m. The women's game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
