MADISON, Wis. - After a strong offensive first half, the Edgewood College men's soccer team lost their second match of the season to Judson University. The 5-3 contest began with a series of three penalty kicks, and ended as Judson's offense dominated the second half. Judson University would score four of five total goals in the second half, to deny Edgewood College their third win of the season.
Edgewood College (2-2) led Judson University (2-1-2) at halftime, 2-1. The first half of the contest was defined by fouls, as both team accumulated a total of 18 fouls and three penalty kicks. Sean Surtees netted both of his penalty kicks in both the seventh and 13th minute of the contest.
The Judson University men's soccer team came into the second half eager to take back the lead. Within the first two minutes of the second half Daniel Isaza tied up the contest 2-2 with his second goal of the season. Judson would continue on an offensive roll, scoring four more times in the half. In the 76th minute, the Eagles offense was able to score once more. Ryan Henry provided Jorge Castellanos with the perfect pass between Judson defenders. Castellanos scored the third goal of the game for Edgewood College, and his first goal as an Eagle. Only eight minutes later, the Beloit, Wis. native looked to tie up the contest, but was denied as a Judson defender blocked his shot.
Judson outshot Edgewood College 18-8 in the contest. Goalkeeper Dan Dombrowski recorded seven saves in the match, holding Judson to five goals. Additionally, a total of five yellow cards were distributed between both teams.
Edgewood College will travel to Beloit College on September 11 for a 4:30 pm matchup against the Buccaneers.
