Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Six different Eagles score in rout of Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – The 2018 edition of the Edgewood College men's soccer team can score, and Tuesday night at Strong Athletics Complex they scored in bunches. The Eagles have now scored at least three goals in their last three games, including today's 6-0 blowout of Beloit College. The Eagles scored five times in the second half to run away with the victory and improve to 3-2 on the season.

Things started quickly for Edgewood College, as Victor Lombardino took a pass from Sean Surtees for a goal in just the third minute of the game. It was the junior's first goal of the season and the fifth of his career. The Eagles continue to pound away at the Beloit College goal, outshooting the Bucs 12-3 for the remainder of the half, but were unable to extend their lead.

Head coach Derek Helmer didn't need to worry, as the Eagles unleashed a flurry of second half goals. The Eagles scored twice within the first seven minutes after halftime. Surtees scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season, but his first from the run of play rather than a penalty kick, in the 50th minute off an assist from Tyler Nelson. Less than two minutes later, Scott Biancofiori's shot deflected off a defender and into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead. It marked Biancofiori's first goal as an Eagle.

Senior Nicholas Bilodeau added to the total with his first goal of the season, and 11th of his career, in the 61st minute. The Eagles wrapped up the scoring in the final 10 minutes of the contest as freshman Edwin Aguirre scored the first goal of his career, and senior Mamadou Jawo also netted the first goal of his four-year career with an 87th minute penalty kick.

Edgewood College will have little time to rest as the University of Dubuque comes knocking on Thursday night. The Eagles will host the Spartans at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona at 7:00 p.m.
