Career night from Negus, leads Eagles to grind past Cougars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Edgewood College men's basketball team rode Jake Negus' career-high 37 points in their first win of the 2018-19 season. Strong defense and three Eagles shooting in double figures made all the difference. The Eagles defeated Concordia Chicago 93-84 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got off to a 13-4 run behind points from Jake Negus, Ben Seefeld, McClain Steffens, and Emil Radisevic and never looked back. With just over six minutes remaining in the first half Edgewood College took their biggest lead of the night off a 3-ptr. from Jake Negus, good for a 39-19 lead.

- Sophomore Negus posted a career-high 37 points in the contest, good for sixth place in the Edgewood College record book. The Janesville native went 6-12 from outside the arc, and 10-20 overall.

- Senior Emil Radisevic posted his first double-double of the 2018-19 season, with 18 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Ben Seefeld added 16 points overall and pulled down nine rebounds.

- Senior Sy Staver did a good job distributing the ball, coming away with seven assists.

- Defense was strong for the Eagles, as they held the Cougars to just 30% from outside the arc.

THE OPPOSITION
- Jalen Meeks finished with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists for the Cougars while Mitchell Pelissier came away with 27 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will return home to take on Benedictine University on Wednesday. The NACC matchup is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
