MADISON, Wis. – Senior Renee Meister added a team-high 10 kills to go with four blocks and Haley Schwenn dished out 21 assists as the Edgewood College volleyball team won their fourth-straight match after 3-0 sweep of Loras on Wednesday night.
Both teams kept it close out of the gate with neither team leading by more than three points until the Eagles (9-10) took a 20-17 lead after a Duhawk attack error. A pair kills by Erika Van Engen, including the set winner, led to a 1-0 advantage.
The second set was a different story for the Eagle attack after finding themselves in a 12-7 hole. After rallying back to a 22-20 deficit, the Eagles finally took the lead behind a trio of kills from Tori Wiskow, Mackenzie Doherty, and Meister. Van Engen eventually sealed the deal with her second set winning kill of the match.
After racing out to a 9-1 lead in the final set, Edgewood College never looked back. The Eagles led the entire third set en route to their fourth-straight victory.
Meister was dominant in the middle with a match-high 10 kills and it took until the third set to commit her only error of the match. The Lodi, Wis. native hit .600 and benefitted from nearly half of Schwenn's team-high 21 assists. Sarah Uczen paced the team with 13 digs.
The Eagles tied the all-time series, 3-3, with the Duhawks (9-10) and continued the trend of flip-flopping wins.
Next up for the Eagles is a matchup at defending NACC regular season and tournament champion Concordia Wisconsin this Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
