Falcons top Eagles despite Gordon’s big night

MADISON, Wis. – Despite 20 points and 12 rebounds from Allison Gordon, the Edgewood College women's basketball team lost to the Concordia Wisconsin, 74-49, in on Thursday night.

Facing off against the league's stingiest scoring defense, the Eagles (0-12, 0-7 NACC) were down 38-24 at the break despite shooting 50 percent in their best shooting half of the year. Gordon finished one rebound shy of a double-double by halftime and got the Eagles off to a strong start after trailing 18-16 through the first quarter.

The Falcons (9-2, 7-1 NACC), led by guard Baylee Barker's team-high 19 points and five 3-pointers, put the game out of reach in the third quarter en route to their seventh conference win by double digits. The Eagles did hold the league's top shooter, Taylor DeLong, well below her season averages of 16.7 ppg and nearly 65 percent shooting after allowing nine points on a 4-of-9 performance from the field.

Gordon posted her second career double-double after finishing 9-of-16 from the field and was backed up by Marissa Hoyer's 10 points and five boards. Other than shooting a season-high 42.3 percent from the field, it was a tough night on the offensive side of the ball as the Eagles finished 5-of-17 at the free throw line and 0-for-6 from the 3-point line while allowing the Falcon defense to score 30 points off 19 turnovers.

The Eagles face Rockford University at home this Saturday, January 5 in a men's and women's doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
