Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Skaer's hat trick leads Eagles to win at Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Perhaps the Edgewood College women's soccer team just became tired of all those close games. The Eagles streak of 10 straight one-goal game ended with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Alverno College. The win marked the Eagles fourth in a row and pushed Edgewood College to first place in the NACC.

Emily Skaer got the Eagles going right away scoring her first goal of the afternoon in the fourth minute. Skaer put back a rebound off the shot of Alisha Nolden for a 1-0 lead. In the 22nd minute, Taylor Pampuch sprung Skaer on a breakaway and she beat Alverno College (5-3, 1-2 NACC) goalkeeper Allison Weick for her second goal of the match. Just three minutes later, junior Mariah Walton scored her first career goal, taking a cross from Olivia De Castro for a 3-0 Eagles advantage.

Seven minutes into the second half, senior Taylor Pampuch scored off a pass from Mady Warda. Skaer completed her hat trick and the Eagles scoring for the day in the 65th minute, by converting a penalty kick.

Sabelle Seabrook made two early saves stand up for the Eagles. Seabrook played into the 75th minute and then yielded to Hannah Anderson who completed the shutout. Edgewood College outshot the Inferno 18-3, including 11 shots on goal.

Edgewood College's third NACC win of the season put them alone into first place ahead of idle MSOE. The Eagles have a key match coming up Saturday against Concordia University Chicago, who sits tied for second place with the Raiders.

Saturday's match is also "Eagles Tackle Cancer" Day at Breese Stevens Field. The team will be selling T-shirts and raffle tickets to raise money for the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
