MADISON, Wis. – Senior Emily Skaer scored once and assisted on another in the game's first 11 minutes as the Edgewood College women's soccer team utilized an early lead to beat Concordia University Chicago, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Taylor Pampuch got the Eagles (8-2, 4-0 NACC) going with their quickest goal of the season in the fourth minute off Skaer's cross. Skaer, coming off a hat trick last match, added a goal of her own in the 11th minute off an Alisha Nolden assist and finished it off with her team-leading sixth score of the year in the 64th.
Despite being outshot by the Cougars (5-4-1, 2-2), 15-5, the Eagles were efficient with 60% of their shots finding the back of the net. In her fifth shutout of the season, Eagle goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook collected a season-high eight saves against a Cougar attack that stayed relentless throughout.
With the victory, the Eagles have now five matches in a row and upped their record to 7-0 at home. They also improved to 13-0 all-time against the Cougars.
It was a special win for the Eagles in their Eagles Tackle Cancer game. The Eagles held a raffle, sold t-shirts, and collected donations for the UW Carbone Cancer Center during both the men's and women's games.
Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Marian University this Wednesday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m.
