ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – A short-handed Edgewood College men's tennis team dropped a pair of dual matches in a triangular at Augustana College on Saturday. The Eagles lost the opening match to Luther College 9-0 and then fell to the host Vikings 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the beginning of the opening match was delayed due to the previous Luther-Augustana match running late, Edgewood College was competitive in their two doubles matches. Jaime Benavides and Andrew Martinez lost a close 8-5 match to Luther's Sam Buffington and Nate Parsons at No. 2 doubles.
- In No. 1 doubles, Brian Davenport and Evan Stone fell to Anders Jensen and Jake Smith 8-4.
- Every singles player won at least a game off of Luther in the singles matches. Alex Hadjiev fell to Kenny Goins 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
- In the late match, Edgewood College again played strong at No. 2 doubles, with Martinez and Benavides losing 8-4 to Augustana's Nicholas Prabhakar and Jonathon Elsey.
- Singles play was difficult for the Eagles, as Martinez was the only Edgewood College player to win a game, falling 6-1, 6-1 to the Vikings' Carl Christensen at No. 3 singles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College had only five players available for the day due to injuries and scheduling conflicts.
