Hentrich leads Eagles in tight NACC race

KOHLER, Wis. - It's almost a shame that we'll have to wait for April to see how this NACC Men's Golf Championship plays out. After two rounds at Whistling Straits, five NACC teams are all bunched together within six shots of the lead. Edgewood College will wait out the winter sitting in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 645.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Edgewood College was in fourth place after Monday's first round with a score of 327. The Eagles improved by nine strokes on Tuesday, but still slipped to fifth as Concordia University Wisconsin shot a second round low score of 307 to move past the Eagles.
- Zach Hentrich, who already has two top-five finishes on his NACC Championship resume is tied for third with a score of 154 (10-over par) after two rounds. He is two shots behind co-leaders Bill Jones of Concordia Wisconsin and Garrett Rolston of Wisconsin Lutheran College.
- Dawson Hinz turned in a 77 on Tuesday to put him in sixth place overall with a score of 158. Nathan Gilbert and Alex Wedige shot matching scores of 168.
- Jensen Peck improved by three shots on the second day, shooting an 84 to finish at 171 heading toward the spring.

FOR THE FOES:
- Marian University will take the lead into the spring, but only by the thinnest of margins. Marian shot 639 to edge out second place Aurora University by a single stroke. Concordia Wisconsin moved from sixth after day one all the way to a tie for third with Wisconsin Lutheran with scores of 643. Edgewood College sits two strokes behind in fifth.

UP NEXT:
- Edgewood College will be off until the spring season resumes next April. The third and fourth rounds of the NACC Championships will be on April 23-24 at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois. The winner of the NACC Championship gains an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.
