OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Edgewood College volleyball team joined the UW-Oshkosh Invitational for the second day and split a pair of matches. The Eagles fell to Trinity University (Texas) 3-1 to open the day, but bounced back for a 3-1 victory over Alma College.
Against Trinity, Edgewood College (9-10) dropped the first two sets before winning the third set 25-21, but the Tigers held off the Eagles for a 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18 victory. Emily Chaussee had 15 kills to lead the Eagles, while Mackenzie Hannan and Elizabeth Evans had nine kills each. Renee Meister had eight kills and a team-high four blocks. Alex Zapuchlak totaled 15 digs to go with Grace Zimmer's 13 digs. Haley Schwenn dished out 25 assists.
In the second match, the Eagles hit .348 and .346 in the first two sets to take a commanding 2-0 lead. Alma College (7-10) responded by taking the third set, but the Eagles ended the match, securing a 25-13, 25-11, 18-25, 25-15 win. Evans scored her fifth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 15 digs. Zimmer led the team with 16 digs. Jenna Dammen had a team-high three blocks while Schwenn and Zapuchlak combined for 31 assists.
Edgewood College will be home for three matches next week. The Eagles will take on UW-Platteville on Wednesday and Carroll University on Friday, before a Saturday NACC match against Wisconsin Lutheran College.
