MADISON, Wis. - Just a couple of years ago, UW-Platteville held a streak of dominance over the Edgewood College women's volleyball team. On Wednesday night in the Edgedome, the Eagles served notice that times have changed. Edgewood College rolled to a 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 sweep of UW-Platteville in the first of three straight home matches this week.

Edgewood College (10-10) took command with a 9-1 run to break a 5-5 tie in the first set. Emily Chaussee and Mackenzie Hannan had back-to-back kills to close out that spurt. The Eagles held the Pioneers to just -.030 hitting, while both Chaussee and Hannan had three kills apiece. Elizabeth Evans added two aces in the first set.

The second set was the most competitive of the night, featuring nine tie scores and five lead changes. The final tie of the set came at 17-17, but the Eagles took the lead for good following a service error by UW-Platteville (6-14). Alex Zapuchlak followed with back-to-back aces, and Chaussee gave the Eagles a three-point lead at 22-19 with another kill. Hannan and Renee Meister finished off set two with kills on the final points. The Eagles hit a match-high .250 in the second set, led by Chaussee's six kills.

The third set looked to be smooth sailing for the Eagles again as Edgewood College bolted to a 6-1 lead. However, UW-Platteville slowly reeled in the Eagles and eventually tied the score at 21-21 following a 5-1 run. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, that would be their last point of the night. Evans scored a kill, and following a Pioneer error, Savannah Koester hammered home back-to-back service aces to finish the match. Evans had four kills without an error in the final set.

Chaussee finished the night with a match-high 11 kills against just two errors for a .300 attack percentage. Hannan added seven kills, while Evans had six kills with a team-high 11 digs. Edgewood College had eight service aces on the night, led by three for Koester and two for Zapuchlak. Zapuchlak also had a team-best 13 assists, as the Eagles hit .204 for the match.

UW-Platteville was led by Allison Jensen and Amber Williams who had seven kills apiece. Lindsey Decker had nine digs and Alyssa Wawrzyniakowski had 13 assists to lead the Pioneers. UWP hit only .061 in the contest. The Eagles have now won two straight matches over the Pioneers since the UWP owned a 19-match winning streak dating back to 1996.

Edgewood College will be back in the Edgedome on Friday night for another non-conference tilt with Carroll University. The Eagles and the Pioneers from Waukesha will get underway at 7:00 p.m.
