JANESVILLE, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's golf team took 9th out of 19 teams in a loaded field at Glen Erin G.C. Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles posted a two-day total of 616 (+48) in the tournament. The Eagles finished behind just one NACC team and bested five other conference foes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Edgewood College dropped one spot from their eighth-place spot after Day 1 but still hung with some of the top competition in the impressive 19-team field. Wisconsin Lutheran was the lone NACC team to place ahead of the Eagles, as the Warriors took 2nd with a total of 597.
-Nathan Gilbert impressed with back-to-back 76's to finish tied for 22nd overall. Kyle Bruce (75-78=153) and Alex Wedige (79-76=155) were not far behind to pace the Eagles.
-Brooks Johnson and Zach Hentrich rounded out the top-five for the Eagles. Johnson tied for 49th in his Edgewood College debut while Hentrich tied for 55th and placed one stroke behind Johnson.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
-Gilbert, a native of Fort Atkinson, Wis., posted his top-two scores of his Edgewood College career in the tournament. His pair of 76's were two-strokes ahead of his previous best.
-Alex Wedige also appears to be on track for a solid sophomore campaign. He posted the third-best score for the Eagles with two sub-80 rounds. He entered the tournament with just one such round in his collegiate career.
-Bruce posted his first tournament with back-to-back sub-80 rounds since last year's Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invite on September 21-22.
FOR THE OPPONENTS
-Carthage's Kyle Donovan took medalist honors with a two-day total of 139 (-3). He shot a 69 on Friday with a 70 on Saturday.
-Dubuque's Chance Manternach took second by just two strokes. He shot a 75 on Friday but turned around to fire an amazing 66 on day two.
UP NEXT
-Edgewood College will be off until Sunday, Sept. 13, when they will start the two-day Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational. The meet will take place at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Eau Claire, Wis.
