WAUKESHA, Wis. - Edgewood College fell to 9-8 overall on the season after a loss in four sets to Carroll University at the Van Male Field House, falling to the Pioneers 26-24, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23. Rachel Tesch moved into second place in school history in career digs after recording 23 on the night.
Emily Chaussee had back-to-back kills in the first set to tie things at 23 but an Amanda Hahn kill put the Pioneers back up one. Chaussee struck again with another kill to even it at 24 but a Karley Wolf kill and a Hahn service ace gave Carroll the victory in a tight first set.
A 9-2 run early on was enough to push the Eagles to a victory in set two. Four different Eagles recorded kills during the run, which put the Eagles up 13-9. The Eagles also went on a 6-0 run to go up 23-14 later on in the set.
The Pioneers started set three with a 5-1 advantage and would lead by at least three points the rest of the way in the set to go up 2-1 over the Eagles. The Pioneers then turned in their best offensive showing in the final set by hitting .333. The Eagles, meanwhile, hit just .051 in the set and were up 16-14 at one point but couldn't close things out.
Chaussee finished with 13 kills to lead the Eagles while Renee Meister also reached double digits with 10 along with an attack percentage of .368. Tesch's 23 digs pushed her career total to 1,615, behind only Suann Adler (Saltzberry) (1,897).
The Eagles are off until Friday, Oct. 2, when they will travel to Alverno College for a 7 pm game from Reiman Gymnasium.
