HARTFORD, Wis. - One week after a rough tournament in Eau Claire, the Edgewood College men's golf team pushed the right buttons for a strong performance at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational. Kyle Bruce shot a first round 69 and Zach Hentrich finished second overall as the Eagles placed third out of 15 teams in the event with a two-day total of 616.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Kyle Bruce emerged on Sunday as the clubhouse leader, shooting a career-low 69 (-3). Bruce blistered the 7,048 yard layout with three birdies and an eagle in Sunday's first round. Bruce placed eighth overall with a score of 149.
- Monday belonged to Zach Hentrich. The sophomore had two birdies and no bogeys on his way to a career-best round of 70. With his first round score of 75 he placed second to MSOE's Jacob Phelps by just one shot.
- Brooks Johnson turned in his best round as an Eagle with a second round 77 to finish with a two-day total of 163. Alex Wedige shot 84-80-164, while Nathan Gilbert turned on a second round 75 to boost the Eagles' team score.
- Freshman Matt Tucker played as an individual, scoring 169 over 36 holes.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles second round total of 302 was their best team score of the season thus far.
- Bruce's previous low round in competition was a 70 which occurred in the second round of last year's WLC Fall Invitational on the same course.
- Before Hentrich's 70 on Monday, he had shot 72 twice. Once at the 2014 Culver's Edgewood College Classic at Glen Erin G.C. in Janesville, and the other at Wild Ridge G.C. in Eau Claire, also last fall.
FOR THE FOES
- Carthage College placed four individuals among the top seven players to earn the team crown with rounds of 294 and 300, and a two-day total of 594.
- MSOE's Jacob Phelps matched Hentrich's second day 70 to hold off charging Eagle and claim the individual title by one shot with a score of 74-70-144.
UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will travel to Lawsonia G.C. in Green Lake, Wis. for the Midwest Region Classic, hosted by Benedictine University on Saturday and Sunday. The Eagle placed fifth in the event last season when it was held at Trappers Turn in Wisconsin Dells.
