HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kyle Bruce and Zach Hentrich torched the courses and Grand Geneva Resort for two straight days. Bruce fired a one-under par 71 on The Highlands course on Sunday and followed it with another one-under par 72 on Monday on The Brute. Bruce placed second by one stroke to Marian University's Ryonen Faris after nearly making up a three shot deficit heading into the final round.
- Hentrich finished the tournament at one-over par with matching scores of 72 on each course.
- Nathan Gilbert secured a top-10 finish on the strength of his opening round 72. He finished with a 79 on Monday to land in ninth place overall.
- Rogan Murphy posted matching 80's on each day of the tournament to finish solidly in the top half of the field.
- Alex Wedige stepped in as an injury replacement for the second round of the event and fired a season-low 71 (-1) to boost the Eagles team score.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles score of 587 marked the lowest 36-hole team score in school history, beating the previous record of 588 set at the 2013 MSOE Invitational. The Eagles lowest score relative to par in school history remains +14 at the Marian Spring Invitation in April 2013 at Morningside Golf Course.
- Bruce's score of 141 was also a career low, breaking his personal best of 146 which he set in the first two events of the 2014-15 season.
- Hentrich's 144 was also a career low for 36 holes. He had set a new personal best two weeks ago at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational with a 145, and then matched it last weekend at the Midwest Region Classic.
- Gilbert's 72 on Sunday and Wedige's 71 on Monday were also career low rounds as a collegiate player.
- The title was the Eagles first event championship since winning the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic to open the 2014-15 season.
FOR THE FOES
- Faris of Marian University won the event with a first round 66 and then held off Bruce with a score of 74 on Monday.
- Edgewood College defeated second place Carthage College by 19 strokes and were 35 strokes ahead of fourth place Lakeland College, the next highest NACC school in the field.
