MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood College baseball team's season came to an end in the NACC Tournament in a pitching duel for the ages. The Eagles' Trevor Koehn threw a NACC Tournament record 10 innings in a battle with Concordia University Chicago's Kurt Kempema, but the Cougars pulled out a 2-1 extra inning victory to end the Eagles season at 16-25.

Edgewood College scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brad Clark singled to shortstop and moved to second on a Zack Creekmore sacrifice. Then with two outs, Ryan O'Dell singled to left field. CUC left fielder Colin Bethran misplayed the ball, allowing Clark to score.

On the mound, Koehn was dominant. He struck out two batters in the third, and then in the fifth whiffed three straight Cougars after the first two batters had reached base. Koehn finished with a career-high 10 strikeouts and threw 115 pitches in the final performance of his career.

Meanwhile, Kempema was just as good, holding the Eagles without a hit from the fifth until he was replaced in the ninth inning. Kempema struck out 11 batters in 8.1 innings. CUC finally tied the game in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Will Randerson, and took the lead in the 10th on another sacrifice fly from Carlos Olavarria.

The Eagles had chances to tie or win in the ninth and 10th, but didn't capitalize. In the ninth Creekmore and Alex Jaskulski reached with one out, but Cougar reliever Steve Cox retired the next two Eagles. In the 10th, Cox temporarily lost control, walking pinch hitter Will Schlosser after Ostrowski reached on an error. However, Cox settled in to get a ground ball from Andrew Lauritzen and a fly out from Clark to end the game.

Edgewood College had just three hits for the game, from Clark, O'Dell and Sean Thompson. The game marked the end of the careers of nine Eagles: Koehn, Jaskulski, O'Dell, Ostrowski, Schlosser, Ryan Busse, Brock McGinn, Taylor Hillmann and Dan Hoppel.
