Round 2 Results

GREENSBORO, N.C. – There's no such thing as easy competition at an NCAA Championship event. The Edgewood College men's golf team battled through their second round on the Grandover Resort's West Course, but a team score of 317 and a two-round total of 635 wasn't good enough to make the cut at the NCAA Division III Championship. The Eagles finished in 35th place overall, far short of the top 15 positions required to play rounds three and four.

Sophomore Kyle Bruce turned his second straight 77 to finish with a two-day total of 154 to lead the Eagles in scoring. Bruce finished tied for 99th in the massive 209-player field. All-Central Region selection Kenny Rucker followed up his opening day 77 with an 80 to finish at 13-over par with a score of 157.

Patrick Cahill shaved five strokes off Tuesday's round with a 78 to give him a 36-hole score of 161. Michael Mathwick shot 163 and Patrick Bohrer rounded out the squad with 173.

Edgewood College finished 32nd in 2012, their first trip to the NCAA Division III Championships, but actually shot a higher score at 642. Schreiner University maintained the lead after day two with a score of 578. Oglethorpe, who shot the best team round on Wednesday with a 287 is four shots behind Schreiner. Brian Burt of Hampden-Sydney College holds the individual lead at 8-under par 136 after shooting a second round 67.

Edgewood College graduates six seniors from this year's 10-member squad in Cahill, Rucker, Tyler Cobb, Austin Foley, Shane Leadholm and Tony Thaden.
