Eagles battle stacked field at IWU Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's golf team got a taste of competition among some of the best teams in the Midwest at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Invitational. The Eagles placed 11th behind a strong second day showing with a score of 314 for a two-day total of 639. Patrick Cahill led the Eagles with a score of 158 (+14).

After having no player under 80 on day one, the Eagles had four players break that number on Saturday, led by Cahill and Kenny Rucker shooting 78 each. Rucker finished the 36-hole event with a score of 159. Kyle Bruce was the Eagles leader after an 80 on Friday and he also finished with a score of 159. Michael Mathwick and Patrick Bohrer both shot 164, with Bohrer turning in a score of 79 on Saturday.

Edgewood College will attempt to play a pair of events next weekend in Wisconsin. The Eagles will be at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational on Saturday and the Marian University Invitational on Sunday.
