Eagles wrap up NACC season with win over WLC

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College volleyball team wrapped their NACC schedule with a Tuesday match against Wisconsin Lutheran. The Eagles dropped the third set, but still cruised to a 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18 victory over the Warriors. The win gives the Eagles at least nine NACC victories for the fifth consecutive season.

Edgewood College (19-11, 9-2 NACC) hit for their highest average of the night in the opening set with a .321 attack percentage in claiming a 25-16 victory. Jordan Winkler and Renee Meister each had three kills without an error in the first set. In set two, the Eagles posted three blocks and Meister was a part of each of them. Winkler and Rachel Tesch recorded seven digs each in the 25-20 second set win.

Wisconsin Lutheran College (1-20, 1-10 NACC) pulled out their best set of the night in winning the third set with a .229 attach percentage. Nicole Klipstein scored four kills for the Warriors in the third set. The Eagles put away the match with a dominating performance in the fourth set. Edgewood College scored 16 kills and held the Warriors to a -.038 hitting percentage. Elizabeth Evans had four kills in the final set of the night.

Winkler and Evans each had 12 kills to lead the Eagles, while Meister added 10 kills and a team-high six blocks. Sarah Schuchhardt had a team-best .364 attack percentage with six kills. Tesch led all Eagles with 22 digs, while Haley Schwenn totaled 27 assists on the night.

Edgewood College finished third in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings and will open the NACC Tournament on Tuesday, November 4 against either Marian University of Benedictine University. Edgewood College has won either the NACC regular season championship or the NACC Tournament in each of the past three seasons.
