Box Score MADISON, Wis. – For the fourth time in five games, the Edgewood College women's team recorded a shutout. The Eagles netted a goal in each half to down Concordia University Chicago 2-0 keeping their unbeaten streak, now at five, alive. Edgewood College has surrendered just one goal in the streak.
Edgewood College (4-2-1, 1-0 NACC) had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks before halftime and in the 27th minute, the Eagles made one count. Haley Gaines served up the set piece and after some scuffling in the box, Stevie Grable collected the loose ball and ripped a shot past Concordia Chicago's Callie Hasselbring for her first career goal.
After combining for 10 fouls in the first half, both Edgewood College and Concordia Chicago were whistled for 10 each after the break. Two yellow cards were also handed out in the last 45 minutes as each team was determined to get their first victory in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. With the Eagles clinging to a 1-0 lead, the Cougars were called for a foul in the box. Jenna Mineau came up from her defensive position to take the penalty kick and converted, hitting a strike to the lower left of Hasselbring. The 2-0 lead would stand, giving Edgewood College their fourth shutout this season.
Tori Fortney snagged three saves in goal for the Eagles while Hasselbring grabbed four, but allowed both goals. Jennifer Dailey and Emily Berns combined for seven of Edgewood College's 11 shots while Grable connected on the only shot she took.
