LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Early season jitters showed for the Edgewood College women's soccer team as the Eagles struggled to find their offense that has been so prevalent the past few years. Freshman Emily Skaer scored her first collegiate goal, but it was all Edgewood College could produce as the Eagles fell to Lake Forest College 2-1.

Edgewood College (0-1) could never ignite their offense in the first half, only attempting one shot. Lake Forest, on the other hand, kept the Eagles' Tori Fortney busy in goal, firing in 12 total shots with seven on goal. Fortney saw five shots before the Foresters' Sam Hillis found Michele Giurovici, who put Edgewood College in an early hole with a goal. The Eagles were barely able to find their bearings before the Foresters tacked on another score by Michelle Greeneway at the 17:35 mark in the first half for a 2-0 lead. Jennifer Dailey finally gave Edgewood College their first number in the shot column when she ripped one over the goal in the 21st minute, but that was the only one the Eagles would attempt the rest of the half.

Lake Forest began the second half just as they did the first, by attacking the goal non-stop. Fortney grabbed three saves in the first ten minutes to keep the Eagles' deficit at two. Near the 70th minute, Skaer entered the game and she capitalized on her opportunity. Five minutes after she entered, Brianna Franken found Skaer , who sent in her first collegiate goal, bringing Edgewood College within a score. Later in the half, the Eagles had an opportunity after a Lake Forest (1-0) defender misplayed a ball, but Foresters' goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta made a nice save to keep the 2-1 score.

Edgewood College was held to just four shots the entire game, with Skaer tallying a pair. Emily Berns and Dailey accounted for the other two. Fortney tallied 11 saves in all 90 minutes while allowing the pair of first half goals. On the other side, Lake Forest racked up 21 shots.

Edgewood College will head to Robert W. Fiskum Field this Friday to face UW-Whitewater for their next contest. No live stats or video will be provided, but look for possible updates on EgdewoodCollegeEagles.com
