CHICAGO, Ill. – Tuesday's game for the Edgewood College baseball team had a much different setting then they have seen all season as the temperature barely hit 40 degrees. The Eagles' braved the weather against Division I opponent University of Illinois-Chicago, but fell 5-3 at Les Miller Field.

After going down in order in the first inning, the Eagles (2-12) got two hits out of the first three batters in the second. Despite having two runners on and only one out, Edgewood College could not plate any runs. In the bottom half of the inning, Eagles' starting pitcher Brock McGinn got the first batter to fly out, but then the Flames got three runs of three hits before ending the inning.

In the Edgewood College fourth,  Jake Zadra led off with a single followed by a Ryan O'Dell double, but not before Zadra was caught trying to steal second. Illinois-Chicago (9-11) began their half of the inning with a pair of triples and added a single later as they tacked on two more runs to make their lead 5-0.

Andrew Lauritzen drew a walk to begin the sixth and after Alex Jaskulski reached on a fielder's choice, Zadra was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. O'Dell then ripped his third hit of the day, a RBI single up the middle. Marc Ostrowski was then hit by a pitch to put runners at the corners and force the Flames to bring in a new pitcher. Brad Clark grounded into a fielder's choice, but Zadra scored to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Trailing by three, Zadra began the eight by drawing a walk. The next two batters were retired, but Clark then singled to bring in Zadra and make the score 5-3. Lauritzen came into pitch a clean eighth, but Edgewood College could not plate any more runs and fell to Illinois-Chicago by three.

O'Dell hit his seventh double of the season to go along with two singles and Clark added two RBI singles as the two combined for five of the Eagles' six hits. Zadra also reached twice with a single and a walk.
