Edgewood College posts sixth shutout of the year in win

LISLE, Ill. – The Edgewood College women held an impressive 19-2 shot advantage over Benedictine University on Saturday afternoon proved their defense is as good as anybody in the conference. Edgewood College netted a goal in each half and left Illinois with a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

Edgewood College (9-2, 5-1 NAC) pressured the goal the entire game as they fired 19 shots with nine on goal. After an early missed penalty kick, Edgewood College got on the board in the 15th minute. Kristina Santaga crossed a ball to the middle where Jennifer Dailey fired a shot to the far post for her eight goal of the season. Edgewood College continued to push Benedictine's defense, but could not net another score until the 76th minute. Dailey struck again off an assist from Erin Peterson to put the Eagles up 2-0. Dailey has scored two goals in back-to-back games.

Edgewood College's defense has proved their strength time and time again with five shutouts this year. The Eagles only allowed Benedictine (5-5-1, 4-2 NAC) to get off two shots all game and posted their sixth shutout this season.

Kristi Frisch earned her seventh win of the year, saving the only shot she faced. Cailtin Clifford played the final ten minutes in goal for the Eagles. Benedictine's goalkeeper Candace Rodgers played all 90 minutes tallying six saves in the loss.
