EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – In what turned out to be cool and rainy weather, the Edgewood College men's golf team won their first tournament of the season. The Eagles won the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational with a two-day total of 610. Along with the team win, Brent Quade earned his second win of the year, shooting 148.

Edgewood College was tied for the lead with Luther College after shooting 306 in the first round. The Eagles improved the second day, in wet conditions, shooting 304. Their tournament total of 610 was two strokes better than the University of Manitoba who finished second. Luther placed third in the eight team tournament with a total of 618.

Quade posted a 76 in the first round and improved on that with a one-over 72 in the final round, ending up in a tie for first place with Aaron Smith of Luther at 148. Smith shot 71-77, but since Quade had the lower second round score, he earned his second victory of the year.

Along with Quade, Mike Battista and Andrew Cobb placed in the top-10, both shooting 154's to tie for ninth. Battista shot 75-79 and Cobb shot a pair of 77's.

Patrick Bohrer and Tyler Cobb rounded out the Eagles' squad. Bohrer shot 81-76 for a total of 157 to place 15th while Cobb shot a 161 (83-78) to place tied for 22nd.

This marks the Eagles' first win of the season and their first tournament win since winning the Northern Athletics Conference Fall Championship last season.

Edgewood College will be in action again this weekend, October 2-3, at the MSOE Invitational. The tournament will take place at the Grand Geneva Resort Golf Course in Lake Geneva.
