COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Edgewood College men's golf team crammed 27 holes into the first day of their first spring event of the year. It was fortunate they made the effort on Saturday, as Sunday's play was cancelled due to cold, shortening the UW-Parkside Invitational to 27 holes. The Eagles placed 7th in an 11 team field of mostly NCAA Division II programs.

Freshman Tyler Cobb and senior Brent Quade led the Eagles with matching scores of 122 to tie for 23rd place. Quade had the team's best round of 18 with an 81, while Tyler Cobb shot a 39 in the abbreviated second round. Tyler's brother Andrew Cobb shot 127 and finished tied for 39th in the 61-golfer field.

Logan Kranz shot 130 and Jeff Kaether fired a 138 to round out the team. The Eagles finished with a first round total of 334 and an overall scored of 500.

Edgewood College will head south again next weekend, entering the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill. The Eagles won the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference Championship and are competing this spring for a bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
