NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The steep learning curve continued for the Edgewood College men's tennis team on Saturday. The Eagles dropped their third dual match of the season, this time a 9-0 setback to Carroll University. All six singles matches went straight sets.
Carroll University (1-1) jumped ahead 3-0 by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Eagles'
Tim Morgan and John D'Orazio fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while
Vince Jankiewicz and
Clint Reed lost at No.3 doubles by the same score.
Max Divelbiss put up the Eagles' closest singles match at the No. 3 position. Divelbiss lost to Carroll's Matthew Zellner in a second set tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). D'Orazio played Kevin Rasmussen tough at No. 1 singles, falling 6-4, 6-2.
Edgewood College (0-2) will travel to Fond du Lac next Saturday for a triangular with Ripon College and Carthage College. The Eagles will take on the Red Hawks at 11:00 a.m. and the Red Men at 3:00 p.m.
