Schilling leads Eagles at Augsburg Fall Invite

HAM LAKE, Minn. – After the first day of the Augsburg College Fall Invitational, the Edgewood College men's golf team put themselves within striking distance of the leader. However, day two did not go as well for the Eagles, slipping from 6th place in the 19-team tournament down to a 10th place finish.

On day one, the Eagles came in with a 312 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minnesota, landing them only 15 shots back of leader, Gustavus Adolphus College. The results on day two were not the same however. The Eagles shot 325 in the second round, dropping them into a 10th place with a 637 for the tournament.

Freshman Mike Schilling posted Edgewood College's best score, shooting a 76 on day one and 79 on day two for a two day total of 155. That score gave him a 14th place finish, only 13 shots behind the tournaments winner, Simon Erlandsson of Gustavus Adolphus who was the only player to shoot under par in the tournament.

Brent Quade shot 74 on day which landed him in fourth place heading into the second day of competition. However, on day to he shot 84 to finish in 28th place with a two day total of 158. Andrew Cobb was not far behind Quade as he posted a 159 for a 32nd place finish.

Mike Battista and Logan Kranz rounded out the team with their scores of 165 and 180, respectively. Ryan McCrumb golfed as an individual in the event and finished 40th with a two day total of 160.

Gustavus Adolphus shot 611 to win the tournament by three strokes over Saint John's University.

Edgewood College will take to the course again next Monday when they will participate in the Cress Creek Collegiate Invitational in Naperville, Illinois at the Cress Creek Country Club.
