Eagles wrap-up 2008-09 season at home invite

Final Results

MIDDLETON, Wis. – It probably wasn't the ideal ending to a season, but the Edgewood College men's golf team was a gracious host at the Edgewood College Spring Invitational. The Eagles placed fourth behind three NCAA Tournament quality teams with a 322 at Bishops Bay Country Club. UW-Stout took home the team title with a score of 300.

Brent Quade was the only Eagle to crack 80 in the 24-golfer event, sharing fourth place with Paul Speltz of UW-Stout with a three-over par 75. Mark Fields placed 18th with a score of 81. Mike Battista and Logan Kranz shared 19th place with a pair of 11-over par 83's. Senior Ty Robinson shot and 84 in the final event of his career, while Aaron Gavin finished with an 85.

Loren Churness of UW-Eau Claire took medalist honors by four strokes with an impressive two-under par 70. The Blugolds shot 304 as a team trailing UW-Stout by four shots, while MSOE was four more shots back at 308. The Raiders will be competing in the NCAA Division III Championships later this month, while UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire are hopeful for at-large bids when selections are announced on Monday.
