GALESBURG, Ill. - Aaron Gavin and Brent Quade placed first and second respectively at the Prairie Fire Invitational hosted by Knox College on Friday. The Eagles placed third of 12 teams at the tournament which was scheduled for two days, but Saturday's round was canceled due to the threat of wintery weather.

Gavin shot an even-par 72 on the 6,522-yard Soangetaha Country Club course to nip both Quade and Carthage College's Tyler Wollberg by a single stroke. Freshman Mike Battista shot an 80 to place 22nd out of 76 golfers. Mark Fields was two shots behind Battista at 82, while Andrew Gutzman rounded out the team with an 85.

The Eagles' team score of 307 placed them just seven shots behind Carthage College, who won the event with a score of 300, and Wheaton College who finished second with a 302.
