WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Edgewood College baseball team will return north with a 7-2 spring trip record and a three-game winning streak after picking up victories on Thursday and Friday. The Eagles downed Ramapo College (N.J.) 11-5 on Thursday, before sweeping Greenville College (Ill.) on the following day by scores of 7-6 and 5-3.

Against Ramapo, the Eagles (9-4) scored runs in their final five innings to turn an early 2-1 deficit into an 11-5 victory. Alex Berta went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Steve Binder hit his first home run of the season to lead off the sixth inning and Cory McCullick stole three bases. Nathan Marlowe earned the victory by throwing seven and two-thirds innings, striking out six hitters and giving up just three earned runs.

On Friday, Edgewood College took advantage of nine Greenville errors to sweep a pair of games. In the first game, the Eagles took advantage of two Panther errors to score three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 7-6 victory. Edgewood College had blown a 4-0 lead earlier in the game by allowing a six-run sixth inning. Mitch Mogensen drove in the game-winning run with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. McCullick, Seth Astroth and Matt Werner each had two hits in the game. Adam Victorn earned the victory in relief of starter Scott Winters and Brad DeVault.

The second game saw the Eagles score five runs on just five hits, but seven Panther errors would allow that total to stand up. Ryan Walker had two hits in the game, including a double. The Eagles stole five bases, including two by Jimy Landwehr. Kyle Lode improved his season record to 2-0 by pitching five innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five. Blake Hunt closed the door on a Panther rally in the bottom of seventh to earn a save.

Edgewood College will open Northern Athletics Conference play this weekend with a doubleheader at Marian University. The Eagles will be at Stampfl Field on Sunday for their home opener against Wisconsin Lutheran College at noon.
