WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Senior pitcher Nathan Marlowe fired a seven-inning complete game five-hitter for a 7-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Hope College. The Flying Dutchmen bounched back for a wild 14-12 victory in the second game.

Marlowe kept the Hope hitters on their heels the whole game striking our two and walking two. At the plate, Alex Berta went 2-for-2 with a double and a run batted in, while Seth Astroth had a pair of singles and two RBIs. The Eagles took advantage of three Dutchmen errors to post seven runs in the first three innings.

In game two, the Eagles held an 8-3 lead until Hope College posted seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Dutchmen extended their lead to 13-8 when the Eagles put together a late rally, scoring two in the sixth and two in the seventh. Astroth's bid for a dramatic three-run game-winning home run was caught on the warning track to end the game.

Senior Rick Walsh suffered the loss, giving up 9 runs in 2-2/3 innings. Dan Gugel and Andrew King each had three hits for the Eagles, while Justin Dahmen had a pair of doubles. Cory McCullick had a triple and a stolen base in the game.
